FAQ's>Feed-in Tariffs for grid connect solar systems
A feed-in tariff is the rate per kilowatt hour (kWh) that is paid for power fed back into the electricity grid. Australia does not currently have a national feed-in tariff, each state has their own unique feed-in tariff, tariffs are summarised in the table below.
Newsflash 25 June 2009 - Victorians to benefit from the fairest and best solar feed-in tariff scheme in Australia Frequently Asked Questions What is a Victorian Premium Feed-in Tariff? What is a Victorian Standard Feed-in Tariff? What is the difference between Net and Gross feed in Tariff?
What is a Victorian Premium Feed-in Tariff? From July 2009 Victorian households, community organisations and small businesses with energy consumption less than 100 MWh a year , with solar PV systems up to 5.0kW in size, will be eligible to receive a credit of 60 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh) for energy they feed back into the electricity grid.
What is a Victorian Standard Feed-in Tariff?Other Victorian renewable power systems for homes and businesses (up to 100kW capacity), including wind, micro generation from solar, hydro and biomass, remain eligible for the existing standard feed-in tariff, which pays the retail rate for any excess power they supply to the electricity grid. What is the difference between Net and Gross feed in Tariff?Gross feed in tariff pays for power generated by the solar grid connected system. Net or export metering pays the system owner for surplus power generated. The simplest way to think of this is in the form of income. Gross income (money earned before tax) = total power generated. Net income (money after tax) = power generated after what is consumed.
